About The Haven

The Haven is a customer centered business. Clients are never rushed out the door, receiving their full time in treatment as Krysta does not believe in overbooking hers or her practitioners' schedules. She recommends that people allow for at least a half hour around their treatment time to allow for optimal relaxation. The Haven offers complimentary beverages and locally made and homemade treats for client enjoyment. New clients leave with a 'goodie bag', no one leaves The Haven empty handed. Krysta is passionate about supporting local/Canadian businesses and you will find all Canadian made items from Bath Products, edible treats, pet treats, housewares, candles, knick-knacks, jewelry, treasures, trinkets and more in our gift store. We proudly use and sell Eminence Organic Skincare products in our Aesthetics Treatments. Eminence is a Canadian Company.

Our beautiful relaxation garden (or in the cooler months our glassed in porch/sunroom) is the perfect place to unwind and let your tensions go before or after your treatment. We host and offer workshops such as soap-making, yoga classes and our Eminence Representative helps us host workshops for clients to assist in educating them about skincare, helping clients achieve lasting results at home.

We are also open to your workshop ideas so if you know someone or want to host a workshop we encourage you to contact us!

As a pet-friendly business, clients who cannot leave their animals alone at home are welcome to bring them along to treatment to play in the yard or relax in our pet friendly living room.

Krysta and her family of wellness professionals can't wait to welcome you into their home away from home.

The Haven is dedicated to the memory of Krysta's late mother, who passed away suddenly in January, 2022.

A portion of proceeds from all sales in our retail boutique as well as all sales of The Haven's Strawberry Rhubarb jam are donated to various animal charities in her memory.

As we are a Wellness Center, The Haven upholds strict cleanliness protocols to help you stay healthy during your time with us.

All implements are sanitized and disinfected as required by AHS and all files and buffer blocks from our nail treatments are single use and sent home with clients after treatment. Clients are welcome to view our sanitation guidelines and cleaning protocols.

'Krysta really cares about her clients and her community. Her smile and laugh are contagious. This is what sets her apart. She is a light in this community and I have only heard nice things said about her.'

Krysta, Owner of The Haven

Certified Bodywork Practitioner/Reflexologist, Yogi, DOG/Cat MOM

and Natural Beauty Treatment Specialist

The Haven is the vision of Krysta, The Haven's Owner and Senior Practitioner, and her late mother Patricia.

Krysta was born and raised in Calgary where she pursued studies in ballet and contemporary dance.  In 1993 she migrated to the West Coast of B.C. to fulfil her passions where she danced professionally in Canada, the USA and Europe for 25 years prior to finding her niche in the healing arts as a Bodyworker/Manual Therapist. She owned Momentum Bodywork and Massage in New Westminster, BC for ten years- a business that won her the New West Chamber of Commerce Award for Business of the Year in 2017 and the Quality Day Spa Award in 2020. In October 2020, she moved back to Alberta to care for Patricia, her elderly, recently widowed mother. Wanting to realize a grander vision of her previous business, she came across the historic brick home that now houses The Haven and fell in love.

With her Mother's loving help The Haven was born.

Krysta has over 20 years experience and education in Massage and Manual Therapy, Yoga, Somatics and  Dance and Movement Therapy. Her Bodywork treatments are an intuitive blend of Deep Tissue, Structural Integration, Energy Healing and Relaxation Techniques. Believing our bodies work as a unit, nervous system included, her treatment style addresses the root of tension in the whole body rather than focusing on a symptomatic approach. Clients experience an optimal state of relaxation in the nervous system which allows the therapeutic work to set in.

She blends her dual passion for Bodywork and Aesthetics into her Holistic Skincare, Nail Care and other treatments making them uniquely therapeutic in nature. She utilizes all organic products where possible and her goal is to empower clients to feel their best from the inside out.

Krysta lives an active life and loves spending time in nature, running, cycling, paddleboarding and doing yoga. She is a 'Dog Mom' to her rescue pups Sailor and Shadow and 'Cat Mom' to Emmy (her late mother's cat who resides at the Spaw) and to Simon and Midnight (CAHS Rescues), who visit the 'Spaw' periodically.

Clients appreciate Krysta's sense of humor, her down to earth, no-nonsense personality and her empathetic approach to their healing process. She loves to help people and has spent much of her professional career mentoring new health and wellness practitioners.

She holds all her certifications with Honors. She received her Bodyworker/Spa Therapist Certification at the top of her class from the Vancouver School of Healing Arts in 2011, The Esthetics Institute in Calgary and most recently her Reflexology Certification from the Westcoast School of Reflexology in Victoria, BC.  Her former Massage Spa of ten years, Momentum Bodywork and Massage, won the prestigious New Westminster Chamber of Commerce Award for Business of the Year in 2017 and the Quality Day Spa Award for Best Day Spa in New Westminster in 2020. Krysta is a member in good standing of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada.

Krysta is presently training to be a Thai Yoga Massage and Indian Head Massage Therapist and is adding Facial Reflexology to her treatment repetoire in 2025. She is excited to provide Cochrane with her unique style of therapeutic, relaxing and integrative treatments while supporting Cochrane's wellness and small business community.

Claudia

Aesthetician and Dog-Aunt

Claudia moved to Cochrane in 2024 and started working at The Haven shortly after arriving. She took her Esthetics Training at Oxford College, graduating in 2021. She loves all Esthetics treatments but Facials are her true passion. Her desire to help her clients find their true skin type means her treatments are as effective as they are relaxing.

She attended Eminence Organic's Advanced Aging Skincare Seminar in 2024 and has an in-depth knowledge of all  Eminence Products, Anti-Aging techniques and product/home care recommendations. She finds true reward in seeing clients leave with a dewy glow, feeling restored and relaxed.

Her pedicure technique is also detailed and meticulous and she gives a great leg and foot massage!

She looks forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your skincare and wellness goals

Sailor, The Haven Hound

Herrooo I'm Sailor, The Haven Hound and rescue doggo extraordinaire! Sometimes I come to the Spaw to help mommy, you might see me working hard to keep the prairie dogs from coming around. Did you know they aren't real dogs!

If I'm there I'll greet you with a wag an a wiggle (watch your feet, I'm a shoe-stealing love bug). I am shy when you first meet me so if you give me space and lots of treats I'll be your best friend fur-ever!

I love helping mommy work, she gives the best healing belly rubs and I do Zen-Dog really well!

I can hardly wait to meet you (bring snacks)!

Emmy, Spoiled Brat

Queen of the Spaw

Yes hello, my name is Emmy and while mommy thinks she runs the Spaw, it's really my house.

I enjoy head scratches and warm laps, no belly rubs please I'm ticklish. I hate manicures and would enjoy giving you a

'paw-cupuncture' treatment to your lap if you would like it added to your stay free of charge.

I will greet you on my terms, if you have an allergy I will likely be more interested in getting to know you so let mommy know when you arrive and I'll try not to take it personally. You can make it up to me by throwing some treats my way and I will go mind my own business in my basement suite.
